- Vintage dress from NZ label L’Officiel (launched in the 1960s) - L’Officiel supplied American department stores like Macy’s and Nordstrom’s in the 1980s - I’m pretty sure this piece is from the ‘80s - Made in New Zealand - Amazing coral-pink colour - The label just says ‘wool/polyester’ so I’m not sure of the wool content, but based on the feel I’d say it’s 50% or more (it has the feel of a mid-weight merino) - It has batwing sleeves and a long vest-style layer that’s secured with a large button - Note that the front layer is attached to the dress so it can’t be unbuttoned (see photo 4); the buttons at the back can be undone though - Size 12 on the label; I think it would work on either a 10 or a 12. It’s designed to be a loose fit through the upper body, so the main size constraint is across the hips. The neck can be worn high, or rolled outwards or inwards to create different looks. You can also turn this into a short dress by putting a belt around the waist and then pulling the top out over it (hiding the belt), which creates a lot of volume through the top and a more fitted skirt. This looks like it’s had very minimal wear. The only issues are two TINY repairs that are barely noticeable – one just under the neckline and one on the shoulder (see photos 7 and 8).
