A spectacular vintage Paloma Picasso bag with all the drama that made her accessories so distinctive — rich chocolate leather, gleaming patent, substantial gold chain detailing and an unmistakable sculptural signature at the centre. Paloma Picasso is the daughter of legendary artist Pablo Picasso, but became an internationally recognised designer in her own right. Her aesthetic is known for bold, graphic forms and statement jewellery, and that influence translates beautifully into her vintage handbags. Today her bags have become fascinating vintage finds, particularly designs featuring the oversized gold hardware and strong architectural detailing seen here. This is a particularly striking example. The bag combines supple dark chocolate-brown leather with a glossy patent leather front panel, creating a beautiful tonal contrast that changes with the light. The centre is dominated by Paloma Picasso’s fabulous oversized gold-tone “X” motif — almost jewellery for the bag itself. Gold chain sections run through Paloma Picasso-branded circular eyelets, joining the longer leather shoulder straps and giving the bag that unmistakable glamorous vintage designer look.
